BetBright is one of a number of new bookmakers to hit the market intent on carving a name for itself among the big boys. Based in Ireland, it is part of the Dedsert (Ireland) Ltd. family, which also includes its sister site, BetBright Casino. BetBright feels similar to other leading sportsbooks, and the team behind the product has clearly done a good job of putting together a sports betting offering to rival the bigger, more established names.
Its high-profile sponsorships of the BetBright Cup at Cheltenham, alongside the BetBright Chase at Kempton Park mean there’s already strong name recognition amongst racing fans. But behind the marketing, how does BetBright really stack up against the competition? Read our in-depth Betbright review below to find out.
Safety and Trustworthiness
BetBright operator Dedsert holds a dual licence, from the UK Gambling Commission and in the Republic of Ireland. While Ireland is its home jurisdiction, the UK is clearly its biggest market, and it spends most of its marketing energy on expanding within the UK to attract new punters. The Gambling Commission stamp of approval ensures fair play and transparency, so punters can take comfort in knowing they’re in safe hands. It is also a member of IBAS (the Independent Betting Adjudication Service), a third-party organisation tasked with resolving disputes between bookmakers and customers.
While it remains relatively new to the scene, BetBright has already made an impact on the industry. In 2016, it was shortlisted in the Rising Star category by eGaming Review, while winning the Best In-House Product award for its proprietary betting platform technology in the same year. On top of these awards, they were also recognised in 2016 by Sports Betting Community, winning the award for Best Football Product. As a small, fledgling bookmaker, that’s a sweet achievement to cap off a hugely successful year.
Deposits & Withdrawals
Deposits and withdrawals are relatively straightforward, although we’d like to see a few more payment methods become available, as the current lineup might be too restrictive for some players.
There's no PayPal which is a buig minus point for any UK facing betting operator. Daily withdrawals are capped at £4000 which may be too restrictive for many
BetBright's mobile offering includes apps for both iOS and Android devices, and you can download both apps from the ‘mobile’ tab on their website. The iOS app is also available via the App Store, for a slightly more convenient download process/
The apps themselves are largely identical, and cleave to the same clean, straightforward design language as the desktop version of the website. Most importantly, you get access to all of the betting markets – including live betting – as you do with the main site.
The apps also push instant notifications of the latest betting offers and promotions straight to your device, a neat feature that means you won’t miss out on the action.
Free Bet Offer
New players can take advantage of a free bet of up to £100. However, to claim this amount, you need to actually lose your first bet of £10 or more, with the free bet paid at a refund of 50% of your losses on that first wager. So in order to get the full £100 free bet, you need to wager and lose £200 on your first bet.
To be honest, this isn’t the best new customer offer offer we’ve ever come across, and BetBright could be a little more generous with the terms here.
To qualify, bets need to be at odds of at least 4/6 (1.66). And if you’re placing an each-way bet, it’s only the ‘win’ element of the bet that counts towards your free bet allocation. As welcome betting offers go, this is on the weaker side, but it’s still a free bet - it’s just that you’ll probably be able to get a better deal for your money with another bookie.
What BetBright lacks in sign-up offer generosity, it makes up for in promotions and ongoing bonuses. They also offer a best odds guarantee on all UK and Ireland racing, as well as staging a number of enhanced odds promotions and offers on select sporting events.
At the time of writing, there were some nice football offers in the shape of a £5 free bet for every £50 staked on in-play betting, and a free bonus leg on all Accas of five or more selections. There was also Acca insurance available on US sports bets and a 25% bonus on Premier League Darts winnings.
The promotions aren’t world-beaters but they cover a decent range of sports and are regularly updated on the site’s ‘Promotions’ page, so you can easily keep track of the best offers and enhanced odds as they become available.
Betting Markets and Odds Quality
Because BetBright is still a relatively new entrant to the market, it doesn’t have the same range or breadth of betting markets as some bigger operators. There are only 19 sports listed for betting on the site, which is about 50% fewer than we’ve found available at most other leading UK betting sites.
However, we feel this is only likely to limit those with a very specific idea of the types of bets they want to place. For the casual punter, there’s still more than enough betting choice here, and the UK and Ireland racing odds guarantee means you can be sure you’re getting the best price for racing bets.
The betting lines, and indeed the most competitive odds, seem to revolve around racing and football. That makes sense when you consider the UK is the main target market - these remain the number one and number two betting sports in the country. For your core gambling markets, BetBright offers fantastic odds that often rival the best available. Bebright will be up there offering the best odds come Grand National or Royal Ascot. Odds on their other markets and lines though are very middling.
To be frank, we’d rather more bookies focused on offering the best odds (and best user experience) possible, rather than hiding behind a ton of betting markets that hold little appeal to the vast majority of punters.
If you’re looking for a bit of variety beyond the sports offering, there’s also BetBright's online casino. You’ll need a separate deposit into your account to play the casino games, but with a wide selection of table games, casino classics and video slots, plus a competitive welcome bonus package on the casino side (worth up to £500), it’s a useful extra for punters who fancy trying something new while they’re waiting for their result to come in.
BetBright does well as far as in-play betting is concerned, with a number of events and specific markets open to betting during the action.
On a typical Sunday you can expect to find hundreds of football games listed for in-play betting, from Premier League betting and La Liga, all the way to Israeli lower league football. There’s also a healthy smattering of tennis, basketball and rugby.
Events are listed by sport, and you can expand or collapse each event from the in-play menu according to your preferences. You can also use the tabbed widget at the bottom of the page to investigate all the live betting events coming up during the week.
The in-play betting console is easy on the eye and particularly intuitive to navigate. When you click through to an event you’ll find stats and match updates at the top of the screen, with the various betting market categories (results, correct score, next team to score, double chance, etc.) underneath. It’s all just a bit neater and more comprehendible than we’ve seen elsewhere, and that goes for the BetBright site as a whole, too.
Generally the in-play options are strong, and there’s plenty to choose from, although, as to be expected, football dominates. As an active BetBright customer, you’ll also get access to live streaming of all UK and Irish horse races via the smart BBTV console. You’ll just have to wager £1 to watch your race.
In addition Betbright offers cashing-out (but not partial) on the following sports: Football, tennis, cricket, rugby league/union, boxing, baseball, basketball, American football, and ice hockey.
For punters in the UK, you can reach out between 8am and 12am every day, and their support agents are usually pretty quick to respond to any requests, queries or issues you might be experiencing. There's also a useful help section on the site where most answers to queries can be foubd.
The Final Word
BetBright may still be new to the market, but it's already building a solid reputation for good odds and decent service. There isn’t the same range and depth of betting markets as you’ll find with some bigger bookies, but what it lacks in range, it makes up for in its odds. The prices for horse racing events in particular are up there with the best, and this extends into the football markets, with generous pricing, and even some decent promotions from time to time.
Its got a good app and clean design to help you find your way around the site. What it does lack is more payment options (especially PayPal), partial cash out and just a few more sports to bulk up from the 19 on offer. Fill these gaps and Betbright could be heading for a 9 or even 10/10 score. As it is we're giving it a 8 but if you're a football or horse race better this is certainly one site that should be on your shortlist.
