LeoVegas began life as a casino, and has developed a strong foothold across Europe since it was founded back in 2012 winning awards and plaudits for its mobile first approach. After a number of years serving up gret slots and casino classics, the decision was taken to branch out into sports betting – and they’ve never looked back.

LeoVegas’ sports platform is available through the same website as LeoVegas Casino, and clicking on the sports betting tab will present you with access to the full range of betting markets available. With a reputation as developed as LeoVegas, you can rightfully expect a combination of great odds and engaging in-play features. But how does it stack up against the intense competition for your betting action? Read our detailed LeoVegas Sports review to find out.

Safety and Trustworthiness

Whenever you’re choosing a sports betting platform, it’s essential to verify your safety and security, alongside the trustworthiness of the operator. Having a recognised brand identity is a start, and it’s a safe bet for most people, before due diligence, that LeoVegas is at least legitimate. These expectations are confirmed when you see they hold licenses from the UK Gambling Commission, which provides stringent oversight of their operators.

There’s a further layer of regulation from the Malta Gaming Authority, as far as players from outside the UK are concerned. The effect of this is to double up on the number of agencies LeoVegas is accountable to – usually a good sign when you’re trying to sort the wheat from the chaff.

LeoVegas is owned by LeoVegas Casinos Ltd. While this is the only casino run by the group, it’s been a winner of countless EGR Awards, virtually since it was founded. On top of this, you’ll find LeoVegas as an official partner to English football clubs like Brentford and Norwich.

In 2016 and on the back of exceptional results. Leovegas’s founder and group CEO Gustaf Hagman took the company public with an IPO on Nasdaq. A publicly limited company must abide by strict corporate governance adding yet a further layer of trustworthiness and credibility to LeoVegas Sports

Deposits & Withdrawals

Amongst the range of payment methods on offer, most crucial for UK punters is PayPal, which allows virtually instantaneous payments in both directions – pending processing and verification, of course. Processing times typically run between 3-5 days for withdrawals, and you’ll be required to submit ID documentation in support of your account when requesting a withdrawal

While this causes problems occasionally, which can lead to extra delays, that’s pretty standard across the online gambling industry, and LeoVegas doesn’t have an especially bad reputation as far as this is concerned.

Mobile

LeoVegas Sports claims to offer ‘Usain Bolt’ style page load times on mobile – off to a flying start, then, if you choose to play in browser. For many on mobile, this is the easiest way to access their account and the betting markets, and the two-touch betting functionality found on both the mobile site and the app reduce any friction between decision and execution.

The app is available for iOS devices, and also for Android users, and you can access direct download links from the website in your phone’s browser to get started. Once you’re inside, it’s a lightning fast experience that rivals the best of them, and the design, layout and features work together in harmony to create a smooth betting journey.

The app carries over the bulk of the markets available from the desktop version, but for what it’s worth, you can probably find a broader selection of betting markets elsewhere. LeoVegas is quite limited in the range of betting markets available, but if you usually stick to the likes of football, horse racing, tennis and the other big markets, this shouldn’t be too limiting.

Bet Offers

The LeoVegas Sport sign-up offer is an intriguiing one. Discarding the usual matched free bet or matched deposit bonus offer, LeoVegas offers a ‘double your winnings’ price boost offer which works as follows.

Once you’ve signed up and made a deposit of £10 you’ll see on your betting slip that you have a 100% winning bonus. To claim the winning bonus you need to make a wager of £5 and then wait for the result. If your bet comes in you win double what you would do on the odds given. After settling this bet, just repeat the process to claim the 2nd price boost.

As always this betting promotion comes with a few terms and conditions. First the maximum bet amount is £5, max odds is 20/1 and the maximum you can win is £105. Deposits made by Skrill and Neteller aren’t eligible for this bonus and the bonus must be taken up within 30 days. Finally each way, non-runners and void bets don’t count

Overall we like this welcome bonus, its clear to punters and makes a change from all the free bets and deposit bonuses we review.

Betting Markets And Odds Quality

If there is a limitation at LeoVegas, it’s probably in the selection of betting markets. Unlike the large dedicated bookmakers like NetBet Sport, you’re not going to find too many obscure markets here. That applies equally across the range of sports available, as well as the selection of specific markets within each sporting category. If you’re the kind of punter who likes to head off the beaten track, you might feel a bit constrained by the selection.

That aside, the markets that are there are reasonably priced, and LeoVegas even goes as far as to guarantee the best odds on UK and Irish race betting. Otherwise, their odds are competitive across the board, although if you frequently bet on a variety of different sports, it’s possible that LeoVegas might be too focused on the bigger markets to be the right choice for you.

The site itself has the same clear, uncluttered design as the casino befitting the company’s Swedish minimalist origins.

In-Play Betting

LeoVegas has a strong in-play betting offer, with the ‘Live’ tab within each specific sport making it easy to identify at a glance your options for betting during the action in the here and now. There’s also the ‘Live Right Now’ option, which lets you take an overview of all the sporting action that’s underway right now, around the world – perfect for those who like to dabble across different sports.

Match timers, score counters and other statistics weigh in to the equation to make the in-play betting facilities as good as you’ll find anywhere else. As far as in-play is concerned, that’s definitely one of LeoVegas’ key strengths as a sports betting platform.

Review Summary

LeoVegas already had a reputation to uphold when they launched their sports betting platform – not to mention their fair share of dedicated fans from their online casino. Bursting onto the market with the same vigour and enthusiasm that has served them so well to date, their sports betting offering is decent, and stands up well against the competition.

This is not the best choice if you’re looking for a huge selection of markets, or obscure sports and betting options that stray too far from the mainstream. But if you’re looking for a solid, reputable place to bet on major sporting events, with very competitive odds, there’s enough good stuff here to merit signing up for an account.
