Overview
In June 2004, Tiltware LLC launched the poker site Full Tilt Poker, with the promotional lure that users would be able to interact with poker pros from whom they’d be able to get advice and tips. (It advertised itself as the site where you could “Learn, Chat and Play with the Pros.”) Legal troubles ensued but all charges were dropped in 2012, opening the doors for Full Tilt to resume business as usual. Around that time, PokerStars bought Full Tilt; and it is now owned by Rational Group – owner of PokerStars. While U.S. players cannot play poker for real money on the site, they are able to enjoy play-money poker at a range of tables.
According to many online poker players, Full Tilt Poker utilizes what is widely considered the best online poker software available, allowing solid gameplay, an enjoyable customization level, outstanding graphics and sound, and a wide range of additional features, such as multi-table poker games. It prides itself on being player friendly and goes by the motto, “Full Tilt Poker: Crafted By Players For Players.”
Safety and Trustworthiness
Deposits & Withdrawals
Full Tilt Poker offers a wide range of deposit options, including major credit cards, bank wires, and all the popular e-methods, such as Skrill, Neteller, and PayPal, which are particularly convenient and discreet. Payouts are also simple, with the processing times stated clearly in the FAQs. The site gives players the option of receiving their money through a credit card or bank transfer, or via an electronic check or eWallet account. Online cashouts are generally processed in three days, with wire transfers to banks taking up to five days before the funds are released into your account. Withdrawals by bank checks mailed by post take longer, some 15 business days.
Players who are members of both Full Tilt and PokerStars can easily move money around from one site to another, as they both fall under the umbrella of one company. This option adds flexibility and ease to funding accounts on both sites, saving the time involved in accessing bank accounts and using credit cards.
Bonuses
Full Tilt Poker is generous and welcoming to new players: With a first deposit, new players will get a 100% matching bonus of up to $600. Playing real-money poker on the site is what releases the bonus and, at the same time, the player will receive Full Tilt points. Money is placed into the player’s account at a rate of 10% of the bonus that is being rewarded, although in increments of not more than $20, and the full bonus must be unlocked within 60 days of the first deposit.
The Full Tilt Poker $600 welcome bonus can be spread across a player’s first three deposits, so users do not have to deposit the full $600 at one time receive all the benefits of the bonus.
For the technically challenged, the surprise is that such a complete site like Full Tilt Poker is so easy to set up. Download the software and click on Create New Account and, other than picking a player ID and password, that’s about it. Once you supply your email address Full Tilt will send an email to welcome you and ask you to make your first deposit. Players have 60 days in which they must make that deposit, which means that users who are a little reticent about playing with real money at first, have plenty of time to play with play money and practice before they make a deposit.
Mobile App
Along with making a big and welcome comeback to the Internet, Full Tilt Poker began to offer a great mobile site, as well. Mobile gaming allows players to access games on their tablets or smartphones, which in turns means that poker is available anywhere and everywhere there is wi-fi and an Internet connection.
To play poker on digital devices Full Tilt members simply download the iOS app (for iPads and iPhones) from the App Store, and Android users access fulltilt.com on their mobile device and download the application from there. Full Tilt members who are playing with real money will have access on their mobile devices to all the games and tournaments that are available on their PC or laptop, along with the site’s bonuses and promotions.

Review Summary
Although Full Tilt Poker was once known for being a haven for sharks and pros, it now caters to the more casual player, which represents the lion’s share of the online poker sector. Today, newcomers to the game can feel comfortable playing on the site and can sharpen their skills through Full Tilt’s many smaller-stake games. (Better players are still attracted to the site’s higher stake tournaments, making Full Tilt a great all-around poker venue.) Despite the site’s legal troubles a while back, it has retained a strong fan base and it remains a popular poker site, due to its cutting edge poker software, its attractive and valuable rewards program, its firm belief in safety, security, and reliability, and its outstanding promotions and bonuses, including a great welcome bonus that’s almost impossible to beat.
One of the problems with Full Tilt is its customer support, which is hard to access (other than with an email). The site, therefore, warrants an overall score of 8.75 out of 10, with game selection, software, welcome bonus and loyalty program earning solid 10s all around.
