Overview
Launched in the UK in 2015, BetBull is a sports betting platform with a big focus on football. BetBull manages to distinguish itself from other sportsbooks by focusing on the social side of betting, promoting itself as a community platform. New customers can get a juicy £50 free bet and avail of expert tipping knowledge and stats from the get-go. A mobile betting specialist, BetBull has designs on revolutionising online sports betting in the UK. But what to make of its offering and revamped platform after five years in Britain? Read our full review to find out.
Safety and Trustworthiness
BetBull is owned and operated by BetBull Gaming Limited, a company founded in Austria in 2003 and now registered in Malta. It holds a licence to offer betting and gaming from the respected Malta Gaming Authority and the UK Gambling Commission (licence reference number: 53933). Both regulators are known for strict oversight, and they will not provide licences to scam betting sites. In the unlikely event of a dispute with BetBull, the firm partners with IBAS (Independent Betting Adjudication Service) to help resolve the complaint.
Part of BetBull’s marketing campaign is focused on promoting safe and responsible gambling among UK bettors. It takes these matters seriously, providing all current safe-gambling tools to ensure betting is kept in check. In terms of betting app security, BetBull uses some of the latest available SSL TLS version 1.2 256-bit encryption to keep your personal details safe. BetBull also uses some of the strictest KYC (know your customer) policies we have ever come across. All of these measures point to a responsible betting operator, and this should give new BetBull players peace of mind when they play.
BetBull has now been around for five years in the UK. While it remains a relatively niche betting platform, we have seen plenty of feedback from punters and betting experts. We are glad to say that the feedback is almost entirely positive, with reviewers keen to point out that BetBull offers a unique betting experience. Some minor issues do pop up, which we will cover later in this review, but BetBull has been well-received and commands something of a loyal following among UK punters.
Deposits & Withdrawals
BetBull covers all the bases with payment methods, including debit cards, eWallets like Skrill and Neteller, and vouchers like Paysafecard. Withdrawal processing takes up to 48 hours.
Mobile
BetBull is a mobile-first betting platform, offering an app available in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The app was updated in August 2020, and the new version is slick, visually appealing and easy to use. As we hinted earlier, BetBull doesn’t feel like a typical online sportsbook, and the app almost feels like you are using a social media tool. Focus on tips, stats and news, rather than just the standard betting markets alone. Nevertheless, there is a strong focus on logical organising and usability, and you can access the betting markets, personal details and betting data quickly.
You can bypass the app if you like, using the mobile betting site or desktop version. But we would highly recommend downloading the BetBull app for a fuller experience, including push notifications for tips, betting offers and news about your favourite teams. The app is compatible with most modern Android devices, and any iPhone/iPad that can support iOS 11.0 or later.
Bet Offers
BetBull’s sign-up offer for new players is a free bet worth up to £50. The new customer bonus is matched to your first deposit and first bet. So, if you deposit and bet £40, you will be credited with a £40 free bet (paid as 4 x £10 free bets). Some conditions must be adhered to in order to activate the BetBull welcome bonus offer. The qualifying bet(s) must be placed at odds of 1/2 (1.5) or greater. The free bet will be credited once the qualifying bet is settled (cashed out bets will be void from BetBull’s promotion). To use the BetBull free bets, you must make a bet of a three-leg accumulator (or more) with odds of evens (2.0) or greater. The minimum deposit to activate the free bet welcome offer is £20.
While there seem to be lots of terms and conditions tied to the welcome offer, it seems quite a fair one. Having minimum odds for a free bet is normal in the industry, and the requirement for accumulator bets fits in with BetBull’s ethos (promoting accumulator betting and tips is a big part of BetBull’s marketing strategy). All in all, it’s a solid welcome offer for new punters, even if it is not a spectacular one.
We are pleased to see that other offers do come hand in hand when betting with BetBull. These can vary from refer a friend bonuses to odds boosts to free bets. When you sign up, BetBull prompts you to opt-in to receive these offers by text, email and push notification – we’d recommend choosing that option to ensure you are getting all the offers that might interest you.
BetBull has a unique take on its loyalty scheme, a process that it calls “gamification”. When you place bets, you will earn a token currency called Diamonds. These Diamonds can be later used to boost your betting odds, add insurance to losing bets or get free bets. The loyalty scheme, in general, can be used to get better odds on selected markets. This is a novel and refreshing take on the loyalty scheme, and it’s likely one of the reasons BetBull has a loyal customer base.
Betting Markets And Odds Quality
BetBull offers the full spectrum of betting markets that you would expect from the best UK sportsbooks. We should stress, however, that much of the focus goes on football betting, particularly Champions League and Premier League. While you can bet on horse racing, tennis, rugby, snooker, F1, golf, NFL and most other major sports, most of the promotional activity centres around football. Indeed, if football is not your sport of choice for betting, we would recommend avoiding BetBull and going instead with one of the major UK sportsbooks like Bet365.
As we keep mentioning, there is a novel approach to betting with BetBull, and that shines through on the organisation of the betting markets. For instance, you can search for recommended bets by tipster (ex-footballers like Darren Bent and Ray Parlour provide regular tips), or you can search by strategy, such as high-risk high-reward bets. BetBull publishes leaderboards with betting success rate from other users on the app, which you can copy and incorporate into your own betting strategy. Feeling proud? You can choose whether to opt-in to display your own success on the leaderboard, or you can choose to keep it private if you like.
The best betting apps online must have competitive odds, and we are pleased to see that BetBull holds its own with the UK’s best online sportsbooks. There are some drawbacks, though, including the fact that you can’t get Best Odds Guaranteed on UK and Ireland Racing – a badge of pride for most top UK bookmakers. Nonetheless, BetBull’s focus on accumulators means the betting value can exceed the norm, especially when you use BetBull’s Diamonds. We have seen some evidence on betting comparison sites to suggest that a typical football acca at BetBull can exceed standard payouts by 10-30%.
In-Play Betting
Again, BetBull’s strengths and limitations in live betting reflect its spirit seen elsewhere on the betting app. In a nutshell, BetBull has you covered if you are live betting on a Premier League game. There are over 100 markets, a live feed updating tips and stats, and plenty of other extras that add to the experience. If you are, for example, an NFL fan, then the in-play betting experience is a bit more limited compared to other big-name sportsbooks. BetBull does not offer free live streaming of sports events at this time.
Support
BetBull has round-the-clock dedicated customer support, including 24/7 live chat and email. There is a full FAQ centre that gives clear and concise information on bonus terms and betting rules. We also like the fact that BetBull is highly active on social media, interacting with Facebook and Twitter users regularly.
Review Summary
If you are a football fan looking for a new betting site, then joining BetBull seems like a no-brainer. While we have pointed to limitations in other sports betting markets, BetBull is constantly growing in that area. BetBull’s innovative approach to focusing on the social side of sports betting points to a bright future on the UK betting landscape. While we have highlighted some minor criticisms, we can’t help but be impressed by this sports betting innovator and hand it a well-deserved 9/10.
