If you’re the type of punter who prefers the peace of mind that comes from betting with an established bookmaker, Coral Betting will probably already be on your shortlist. And so it should be.

With a sterling reputation for taking care of its customers, odds that range from decent to generous, and betting markets honed to appeal to British punters, it has the right foundations for a tip-top sportsbook. But, more than that, Coral has shown a willingness to push the boundaries and really strive to create an online (and mobile) product that has no need to rely on its history to attract punters. Read on to get the full run-down with our Coral Sports review

Safety and Trustworthiness

Coral’s instantly recognizable blue-yellow-red flag in the top left corner of the site instantly tells every British punter that they’re playing in a safe and secure environment. With a high street presence that dates back to the 1920s, and a fantastic reputation among players, Coral is a bookmaker you can trust.

Coral is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (000-039071-R-319423-001) and by the Government of Gibraltar (RGL 059/ 060). It’s also a member of IBAS, the Independent Betting Arbitration Service, and ESSA, which guards against match-fixing and suspicious betting.

If you’re on the fence about taking your betting online, Coral’s reputation and familiarity could well make it the site to change your mind. And with 1,700 betting shops across the UK, you can always stroll down to the high street and find a human being to talk to if you have any difficulties.

Deposits & Withdrawals

All the most common British payment methods are available for deposit and withdrawal alike. Instant deposits are to be expected, and Coral are not known for putting their customers through unnecessary ordeals over withdrawal of their winnings. You can expect payments to e-wallets to reach you in a matter of a few hours.  Cash betting is also possible at Coral, you just need to visit your local shop to deposit or withdrawal.

Mobile

While some may find the barebones appearance of their betting application to be a bit uninspiring, we like how clean the UI looks. There is something bright and fresh about Coral when you use the app through an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet.

The layout of the Coral app also benefits from the minimalist approach, as the stripped-back look allows you to focus on what matters: bets, bets, and more bets. When it comes to markets, pretty much everything from the Coral desktop site has made the jump. This means that from Champions League betting all the way through to MMA, Coral has you covered no matter your sport of choice. It’s also worth noting that Coral throws out a few non-sporting markets into the mix as well, with weather and politics giving punters a taste of something different.

If you have aspirations of being a big-time bookmaker in 2017, you best have a mobile app worth talking about. While it’s certainly taken some time, the brilliant-but-basic Coral mobile app is well worth downloading.

At this point we should also mention Coral Connect, Coral’s omini-channel strategy. It allows you you to bet and collect your winnings from any of their bricks and mortal shops. Say you win online, with Coral connect you don’t have to wait for your withdrawals to be processed, you can just enter any shop and with a Coral connect card receive your winnings. Vica versa you can also deposit offline and play online. Its very good joined up marketing thinking and somethign that should be available from all the offline to online operators.

Bet Offers

Coral’s exclusive introductory offer for PlayRight users really hits the sweet spot. It gives you free bets worth £20 for when you sign up and bet at least £5. There are no wagering requirements involved at all, and so long as you place your bet within 14 days, and at odds of 1/2 (1.50) or greater, you’ll get your free bet tokens. It’s worth noting that the bets cannot be used with cash out events, and expire within four days of issue.

This is one of a handful of different bonus offers available from Coral. Other regular promotions include enhanced odds deals and their Bet & Get rewards club to keep things interesting. The odds are fair, in terms of the free bet minimums, and the free bets are pretty easy to claim for new players. The £5 deposit threshold is also unusually low, so there’s not much risk involved in taking advantage of this free bet offer. It’s perfect for novice bettors, or those who prefer to keep their wagers small. Betting Markets And Odds Quality

Powered by Geneity (Playtech’s betting software) the choice of sports with Coral Sports is, as you might imagine, heavily slanted towards the interests of British punters. Upcoming football Premier League games, the latest horse races, and other major British sport betting events taking centre stage on the site’s homepage.

Coral has a range of betting markets that’s more than broad enough to appeal to the vast majority of its millions of customers. But this isn’t a bookmaker that’s aiming to make waves by offering every obscure sport known to man.

You’ll find around 30 sports listed in the A-Z on the left side of the homepage which puts it in very much in the middle of the pack with regards to sports choice. You can expand each sport to dig deeper into specific leagues and competitions from around the world. You’ll also find nice markets for eSports betting and virtual sports, and Coral’s non-sporting “specials” section has markets on everything from politics to reality TV.

Overall, the website is fairly easy to navigate, despite the fact that it’s a little on the busy side and a little tired looking in design. We liked that you can minimize any of the elements on the homepage to tidy things up. You can also save your favourite sports to the ‘My Coral’ section to further customize things. Similarly the bet slip is easy to read and is customizable. From the top menu, you can jump straight to live betting  (more on that below) or to other online products, like casino, bingo, poker and lottery.

On the whole, Coral has a reputation for offering petty good prices, especially on the big British sports like football and racing. They also lay on a rich choice of enhanced odds offers and specials on specific events, which can be a real source of joy, especially if you were planning on having a punt anyway.

In-Play Betting

Despite the general high quality of its online product, Coral received a fair amount of flak from punters over its in-play performance. In the eyes of most it just didn’t do enough. But that’s all changed now. Coral has given this part of the platform a much-needed overhaul. Now, players are able to jump to the hottest in-play betting markets directly from the home page. It also lines up the upcoming events chronologically, so you’re ready to go as each match kicks off.

When you bet live at Coral, expect to be hit with a barrage of odds and statistics. It even matches up against William Hill in that regard. For some gamblers this may be a touch overwhelming, but we like that Coral is giving you all the information and live stats you need to make informed decisions. On a side note, Coral throws plenty of sports news at you too – including via the free Coral Radio.

Live streaming is now a key part of the in-play and mobile betting experience, so it’s great to see this become a part of the Coral platform. Admittedly, the site isn’t going to be competing with the likes of Bet365Paddy or Betfair on this front anytime soon, but you really can’t complain with the football, rugby, tennis, snooker, darts, and more that it’s able to broadcast live. All you have to do is make sure your account is in positive balance in order to view live streams.

Coral’s cashing out is faily decent available on Football, Rugby, Tennis, Darts, Snooker, Cricket,Boxing, Snooker with partial cash out also offered.

Review Summary

You’ll know by now that we like Coral Sports a lot. We think it’s the type of online betting site that would serve the majority of punters very nicely. Coral’s combination of proven integrity, long history, and a rock-solid online and mobile platform should place it squarely on your shortlist.

Given the low barrier of entry to claim the generous introductory free bets offer there’s no good reason not to give Coral a spin.
